I have often been asked if I run courses… and yes I do. Over the years I have put together the following classes.
BUT fair warning… in all classes – there is no unpicking so leave the stitch ripper at home and no quilt police – we’re not going to stress if our quilting goes for a wander or how far apart our stitches are… these things will all come with practice. These are guided playtimes where you can work at your own pace and find your own groove.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you want more info.
Free Motion Workshop
The objective for the day is to have fun playing with free motion quilting and that everyone is able to take something from the day, no matter what level they start at.
Along with some good basic quilting designs, we’ll talk about all things quilting, machine care and marking quilts. If people are feeling game we can get into some easy feathers (with no back tracking) and leaves and flowers. We will work at your pace.
Free Motion 007 – Licenced to Play
The objective for the day is to have fun expanding your free motion knowledge and going home at the end of the day with a few more skills in the toolbox.
We start the day looking at the Quilt Design Process and putting together a quilting plan – what to do if you have no idea what to quilt, some discussion about marking quilts and various methods. We will cover some quilting fills that you can make as simple or complex as you want. For this class, your preparation will be to make a small quilt with a simple block and lots of space to play.
What you put in that space is the journey we will cover in class.
Feathers and Flora
This class is focused on feathers – starting with non back track feathers and moving on to more formal feathers. We play around with different shapes as not all feathers need to have that traditional shape. Along the way we play with each shape, variations, enhancements and fitting our feathers into various shapes.
For those that are keen, we will take those same basic principles and play with leaf shapes, ribbons, flowers and vines.
This is not a class for first-timers, but doesn’t require a heap of expertise either. You should be comfortable quilting a teardrop shape or paisley in different directions and ready to explore the possibilities. We will be back tracking over our quilting as a part of this class – but don’t let that put you off!!
